Snowdance raising practices go above and beyond for an exceptional end product. They raise their turkeys on pasture, rotated onto fresh grass regularly for foraging. They're also fed a supplemental grain ration that includes corn and soy beans. No antibiotics or animal by-products are utilized.

Turkey Deposits

When you’re charged: A non-refundable deposit will be automatically charged on October 19th for all turkeys added to cart now through October 19th. After October 19th, the deposit will be billed about 48 hours after it is added. You'll see a "Bills on" date listed on the turkey in your cart, and the morning after you add a turkey, we'll email you confirming the deposit amount and billing date.

Your deposit counts toward your final bill: The deposit is applied to your final order total, so you’ll never be charged for it twice.

If you remove your turkey: Once the deposit has been charged, it is non-refundable. If you change your mind and remove the turkey from your order, the deposit will be forfeited.

Snowdance Farm is based in the Catskill Mountains of New York, where farmer Marc Jaffe raises free-range chickens, in partnership with farms in Pennsylvania, as well as other, humanely raised, pasture-raised meats.

They raise a specific type of chicken that is a bespoke cross of three different heritage breeds including a Sussex and Essex, and the chickens are fed a very specific diet that includes alfalfa and flower seeds. These heritage birds take almost twice as long to reach mature size, 12-14 weeks, as compared to a commercial cornish cross breed chicken. They're fed a vegetarian diet supplemented by pasture foraging and are never given antibiotics, hormones, or medications.

They have more than the required square footage per bird to qualify as humanely raised, and they have all sorts of toys and distractions, as well as access to the outdoors. When it's time for the chicken to reach the plate, they are humanely butchered in a USDA inspected facility that air chills the birds (vs water chilled) for better flavor, less mess, and less water weight, meaning you get the most meat, and most flavorful meat, for your investment.
