Fresh local organically grown honeydew melon, a smooth, pale green-skinned melon in the muskmelon family with sweet, pale green flesh. Honeydew is technically a type of muskmelon along with cantaloupe, but unlike cantaloupe it doesn't develop a netted rind or musky aroma as it ripens, so ripeness is judged by weight, skin color, and a faint waxy feel rather than smell. Slice into wedges or cubes for a simple snack, blend into agua fresca or smoothies, or pair with prosciutto or feta for a sweet-salty starter. Its high water content also makes it a good base for sorbet or a chilled summer soup. Pairs well with lime, mint, feta, prosciutto, and chili powder.
