Orange Kabocha Squash is a dense, sweet winter squash with vibrant orange flesh and a rich, nutty flavor that falls somewhere between sweet potato and pumpkin. When cooked, the flesh becomes tender and finely textured with a naturally buttery quality. Its concentrated sweetness and hearty texture make it especially good for roasting, where the edges caramelize while the center stays creamy.
Roast it in wedges with olive oil and spices, blend the cooked flesh into soups and purées, or use it in curries, stews, risottos, and baked goods. The skin softens with cooking and can be left on when roasting.
