Athletic Brewing Company was founded by Bill Shufelt and John Walker with the goal of making non-alcoholic beer that could stand next to traditional craft beer, not sit apart from it. Shufelt, a former finance executive and lifelong athlete, wanted a way to enjoy beer without compromising performance or daily life.

From the beginning, Athletic focused on brewing real beer first, then removing the alcohol, rather than building flavor substitutes. The team developed a proprietary brewing process to preserve body, aroma, and hop character, resulting in non-alcoholic beers that taste familiar and balanced, not thin or overly sweet.

Athletic Brewing helped push non-alcoholic beer into mainstream craft spaces, showing that NA beer could belong at the bar, after a workout, or at the table. The brand is best suited for customers who want the ritual and flavor of beer, without alcohol being part of the equation.
