Inspired by the easy digestibility and amazing flavor of sourdough bread, Jesha’s Bakery creates baked goods and baking mixes that are gut-healthy and to-die-for!
Their cookies are "gluten-friendly"! They are made with spelt flour which contains gluten, but Jesha’s Bakery ferments every batch with sourdough starter, a process that naturally degrades the gluten content. That being said, they do contain gluten and are not suitable for anyone with celiac disease or other forms of gluten intolerance.
All their mixes are made with 100% locally grown and milled grains. Local grains are vibrant in flavor, rich in nutrients, and an important part of a sustainable food system. They come from certified organic farms in the Northeast that grow exceptional quality grains using sustainable practices without pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers.
Their farm partners use holistic crop rotations to manage pests and disease, and beneficial cover crops to provide nutrients and organic matter to the soil. This is a form of agriculture and land stewardship that promotes biodiversity, improves the wellbeing of local ecosystems, and builds healthy soil.
