Similar to a Bartlett pear, Shenandoah pears grow to be much larger and stand up to the cold weather and long storage, which means pears even in the dead of winter. They are large, sweet, aromatic and juicy, making for the perfect winter treat!
Slice and serve with blue cheese and arugula for a densely delicious winter salad; mix with walnuts, pecorino, and honey in a risotto; poach in mulled wine.
Local Bound is a collective community based in Pennsylvania, celebrating the best in local farming, partnering with small farms at the forefront of innovative agricultural techniques.
The collective focuses on championing regenerative and organic growing practices, seasonal varietals, and local ecosystems, and connecting them directly to regional food hubs, chefs, restaurants, grocers, and markets. Local Bound simplifies sourcing by providing one list, one order, and one delivery for multiple independent regional farms and producers, thus shortening the supply chain, ensuring that a higher percentage of revenue goes back to the farmers.
