Kriemhild’s Meadow Butter is made in small batches during the growing season when the cows are grazing on quality, fresh pasture grasses. Their milk is 100% grass-fed from a single family farm, Red Gate Farm in Hamilton, NY. This sweet cream butter is churned slowly and finishes with 85% butterfat, resulting in a decadently rich smooth textured butter, salted with locally harvested and processed salt.

Kriemhild Dairy Farms (pronounced CREAM-hild), is a small, farmer-owned, agribusiness specializing in high quality full-fat, and cultured dairy foods with milk sourced from grass-based herds in Central New York. Our premier product is made by slowly churning fresh sweet cream into an 85% butterfat, resulting in our creamy, flavorful butter. Our name comes from the name of the original herd of holstein-friesian cattle that were born, raised and registered in the United States, just a few short miles from our Creamery. The herd was raised by Gerrit Smith Miller, grandson of the famous abolitionist, Gerrit Miller in Peterboro, NY. His herd is historically recognized for achieving modern milk production volume from grass grazed cows almost 100 years ago. While our partner farms continue to make improvements through cross-breeding, we recognize the important history of pioneering grass-feeding farmers, and honor the path that was paved to make Central New York the beautiful and viable dairy country it is today.
