Pawpaw trees, the largest edible fruit trees native to North America, produce greenish-blackish fruit with pale to bright yellow flesh. The flavor of the fruit is often compared to bananas, with hints of mango, vanilla, and citrus.

Due to their short shelf life, you won’t find them in grocery stores. Luckily, Farm to People has freshly foraged pawpaws available for a short time!

Check the storage tips for how to store–and make sure to wait until ripe to eat.
