Culinary Arts background from Johnson & Wales University, Denise Weale began crafting her own English muffins from scratch for her family to enjoy. When they later shared them as holiday gifts, the response was unanimous—everyone wanted more.

Around that time, Denise was eager to reconnect with her culinary roots and pursue an entrepreneurial path. During a walk one day, she and her daughter Olivia stumbled upon a discarded Thomas’ English Muffins container. That small moment sparked a big idea: the English muffin category hadn’t evolved to meet the needs of modern consumers seeking cleaner-label, better-tasting options. Taking it as a sign, the mother-daughter team launched Dam Good® English Muffins.

The name Dam Good® carries three meanings. It pays homage to the New Croton Dam in Cortlandt, New York, near where the company got its start. It reflects their mission to make genuinely delicious, “dam good” English muffins. And it represents their broader purpose to “Do Dam Good®”—by supporting their community, creating opportunities through Open Hiring, and making food people can trust.

Founded and led by Denise and Olivia Weale, Dam Good® English Muffins is built on craftsmanship, purpose, and a shared love of great food—one perfectly toasted bite at a time.
