Good Chi Farm is a 1.5 acre farm on Lenape land in Kingston, New York, owned by Betsy Ho, a 2nd generation Chinese American who grew up in Sleepy Hollow and has been farming in the Hudson Valley for more than a decade.
Betsy's family owned the first Chinese restaurant in Westchester County, the Shanghai Inn, for 25 years. In 2012, her sister Jeannette succumbed to breast cancer at age 42. When she was undergoing chemotherapy, Jeannette was not allowed to eat berries at the doctor's orders because the pesticides would weaken her immune system. That knowledge, having grown up under the influence of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and studies in yoga and ayurveda have led Betsy to seek healthful ways in which we can serve our communities, plants and planet.
Good Chi Farm is committed to making high-quality and chemical-free home foods available to immigrant and BIPOC communities. We see food as an important way to preserve health and culture. By providing these foods otherwise unavailable to Asian diaspora and allied communities in the Hudson Valley and Capital Region, we are committed to food justice. Through the Glynwood Food Sovereignty Fund, we supply produce to the Ulster Immigrant Defense Network, which supports Central Americans in our community seeking asylum.
