Harrow Sweet Pears

5 pieces

It’s Blushing Beauty week at Farm to People, and these blushing beauties of the fruit world are the sensational Harrow pear, originating in Canada. Similar to the popular Bartlett, they ripen later in the season; so you get to enjoy this fall fruit even longer. Given their autumnal colors, they are the perfect adornment for your fruit bowl. Eat as is, or use in a savory preparation like a pear, blue cheese and walnut salad, crêpe or sauce. You can also can or preserve these pears to get you through a long, fruitless winter. Store on the counter until desired ripeness, usually 2-3 days; then place in fridge crisper drawer to extend their life.
