Field Trip pumpkins are a classic front-porch pumpkin: small, round, deep orange, with tidy ribbing and a long, sturdy handle built for carrying. Named “Field Trip”, this is the pumpkin sized for school pumpkin-picking trips, light enough for a kid to lug home and proudly display. Set a few on the steps, line them along a mantel, or stack them into a small fall display, each one just the right size to hold its own. Field trip pumpkins are also edible and great for pies, though not quite as sweet as your standard pie pumpkin!
At 5 to 7 pounds it is easy to arrange and easy to carve, with plenty of surface for a jack-o-lantern face. It is at its peak right through Halloween. Pair it with mums, gourds, and dried corn stalks for a full autumn spread.
