Santa Cruz Organic began in the 1970s, when founder John Battendieri revived orchards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and pressed their fruit into fresh organic juices. That pioneering spirit lives on today in a wide range of products, from juices and lemonades to sauces and our signature organic applesauce.

Sustainability is just as important to Santa Cruz Organic as it is to our parent company, TruRoots. Both our Chico, CA and Havre de Grace, MD facilities hold TRUE Platinum Zero Waste Certification, the highest level available. Through practices like reusing pallets, turning fruit pulp into animal feed, composting, and saving up to 50,000 gallons of water a day in Maryland, we’re continually working to reduce our environmental impact.

We also believe sustainability begins with the orchard. For over 10 years, partners like Stemilt Growers have nourished their trees with rich organic compost that sustains the entire ecosystem. From this soil come the organic apples that go into our juices and applesauce, showing that the best flavors are born from healthy, thriving land.
