Rotten
Santa Monica, CA
Rotten began with founder Michael Fisher's conviction that candy is about experiences: his best childhood memories, road trips and movie nights, always came wrapped in it. So when he started his own gummy brand, he built a world first. Inspired by 1990s Nickelodeon magazines, slime culture, and late-night cartoons, Rotten's packaging crawls with gross-out characters from a universe of its own invention, presided over by Dr. Rotten and his Freaks. The name is deliberate. Despite the better-for-you ingredients, candy should feel a little devilish and rebellious!
Rotten makes its gummies with about 60 percent less sugar than conventional candy, sweetening with allulose and monk fruit instead of artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols, coloring with fruit and vegetable juices instead of artificial dyes, and folding in prebiotic fiber from chicory root. The approach carries across the whole line, which is also gluten free. From a one-man operation, Rotten now sits on thousands of grocery shelves across the country.
