Rishi Tea & Botanicals was founded in 1997 by Joshua Kaiser with a clear goal: raise the standard for tea in the United States and expand awareness of its depth and tradition.

Rishi’s team is devoted to traveling to remote tea-growing regions to source and study teas and botanicals of rare quality and provenance. The company works as a selector, importer, and maker, building a portfolio that reflects both ancient cultivation practices and modern culinary sensibility.

Direct trade is the backbone of their quality control. Through hands-on partnerships with growers, Rishi verifies where, when, and how its organic teas are grown, offering traceability back to the farm for each lot.

Rishi was among the first tea companies to earn USDA organic certification in 2002. Organic cultivation, transparency, and long term grower relationships remain central to how they operate.
