Pink Celery

Small and slender with bright pink stalks, pink celery is highly aromatic, more pungent in taste, and smaller in size than European celery. This heirloom variety of celery originated in China, where it is valued for its cooling and anti-inflammatory properties. Not commercially grown here in the US, we are getting this special treat from our friends at Kitchen Garden Farms (yes, the delicious sriracha company). Due to its strong flavor, most do not like raw pink celery, but some enjoy its robust herbal taste as a garnish or topping for a grain bowl. The flavor really shines, however, when pickled, stir-fried, or braised, allowing the natural sweetness to come out and compliment its herby edge--we particularly recommend it as an accompaniment to meat or any other umami rich dish.

Kitchen Garden Farm, Sunderland MA

Caroline Pam and Tim Wilcox own and operate Kitchen Garden Farm in Sunderland, MA since 2006. They grow 50 acres of organic specialty vegetables for restaurants and stores throughout the Northeast and make award-winning sriracha and salsa from the farm's produce. Kitchen Garden Farm also hosts Chilifest, a festival celebrating hot peppers in September.

Store in a breathable, reusable plastic bag in the crisper drawer for up to a week.
