McIntosh Apples

Out of stock

A cold-weather apple with a hearty bite, McIntoshes have a crisp, slightly tart flavor, reminiscent of cider, that for many is the taste of fall. Stew into a cinnamony sauce; eat fresh out of hand or in a salad; bake into an apple-berry pie.

Frecon Fruit Farms, Boyertown PA

Frecon Farms is a 3rd-generation family-owned farm. Current owners, Steve and Hank Frecon, continue the family legacy of growing locally since 1944. Frecon Farms has been growing some of Pennsylvania's finest tree fruits and berries, including apples, cherries, peaches, plums, blueberries, nectarines, raspberries, and pears. With the recent addition of an on-site, from-scratch bakery, Frecon Farms is proud to provide local and wholesome fruits, bread, assorted baked goods, and other specialty food items. Frecon Farms practices IPM, Integrated Pest Management, an environmentally-sensitive growing practice that uses a variety of management controls that are natural, synthetic, and in some cases organic. They chose IPM because they believe it to be the least invasive pest control for their crops. IPM is neither conventional nor organic. It is a science-based program that prohibits broad spectrum controls used in conventional programs. IPM also incorporates environmentally-safe synthetic controls that East Coast fruit growers need. Currently, there is no more-organic alternative to IPM for East Coast fruit growers. Frecon Farms is committed to IPM because it looks at the entire growing ecosystem, not just the individual components.

Store them by themselves in a reusable plastic bag in the crisper drawer for up to a week for best flavor.
