Bosc Pears

2 pieces

Shanesville Fruit Farm, Boyertown PA

Farmer Lee Spencer purchased this land from in parents in the 70s after they had been farming the land since the 30s, making Shanesville Fruit Farm not only a family, but multi-generational business. Having studied agriculture, especially that of Italy and the rest of Europe, Spencer has implemented a trellis system for growing, which allows for lots of extra growing space on less land. Spencer and his family grow 180 acres of fruit--11 acres of pears, 15 acres of nectarines, and 60 acres of peaches. With only two acres in cherries, the rest of the almost 100 acres is dedicated to apples, where they grow about 20 different varieties.

Store at room temperature until ripe, then transfer to the fridge, where they can last up to two weeks.
