The delicious, fresh local apples from Solebury Orchards are transformed into this sweet, no sugar added apple sauce! Crushed apples are stewed until they develop a small amount of natural caramelization, and that's all that goes into this delicious treat. Maybe you've heard of the "ugly produce" movement? Well, things like apple sauce, jams, and sauces are how small farms have always dealt with produce that wasn't pretty enough to sell as is, but just as perfectly delicious as the rest of their food. Support the original "ugly produce" movement with a jar of sauce! Smother pork chops; bake into cakes; eat as is for a snack.
Solebury Orchards began in 1985 on 24 acres of land situated in the fertile soils of central Bucks County. The gently rolling field, which originally grew crops of corn and soybean, was transformed with rows of apple, peach, pear, cherry, plum, and apricot trees. Within several years blueberries and blackberries were added to the list of crops grown. Business at the orchard steadily grew and in 1996 a 45 acre field just east on Creamery Road was added to the farm. Cider pressing began in the early years and today Solebury Orchards' Cider can be found throughout the local area and is well known for its superb flavor. Brian Smith, who started Solebury Orchards and still runs the farm today, is passionate about growing the finest quality fruit and seeking out the very best varieties. New trees are planted every year and the orchard is looking forward to many productive years to come.
