Manischewitz
Newark, NJ
Founded in Cincinnati in 1888 by Rabbi Dov Behr Manischewitz, the company built its name on one key insight: square matzo could be made at scale on an assembly line in a way that fully met kosher law. Rabbis traveled from around the world to certify the process. From that foundation, Manischewitz grew into one of the most recognized names in American Jewish food, eventually adding Tam Tam crackers, gefilte fish, borscht, and chicken soup to a lineup that still defines the holiday pantry for many families.
