Chappell Farms
Kline, SC
Chappell Farms has been growing peaches in Barnwell, South Carolina since 1927, when James Chappell planted his first orchard in neighboring North Carolina. Four generations later, Pat Chappell moved the operation to Kline, South Carolina in 1952, planting a 100-acre orchard on the state's Coastal Plains, where mild winters and warm summers produce some of the earliest fruit of the season. Today the fifth-generation family farm grows cling, semi-free, and freestone varieties across a season that runs from mid-May through mid-August, selling direct from their farm stand and through the Pat's Pride wholesale brand.
